Super Trainers
This is an award to a client who we consider best fits the title of 'Super Trainer'. You don't need to be super fit, just super enthusiastic and show super improvement.
Here are some of our award winners
Super Trainer April 2011
Suzanne Casey
Suzanne has been training with the FitSquad group on Wednesday nights since April 2009, and in that time has hardly ever missed a session.
Suzanne gives everything a go, generally with a smile on her face. Whilst not a great lover of running, she has improved her time trial time by 15% in the time she has been training with us, and her push up technique has improved out of site. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, (well not really, but she does pump out a mean step up), a better skipper could not be found in any school playgrounds, and she throwsa pretty mean punch as well.
Congratulations Suzanne. Some bath foam and other smelly stuff awaits you next term.
Summer Super Trainers 2010
John Burrows and Norma Burrows

Norma and John Burrows are the deserving recipients of our Summer Super Trainer award. They are our longest standing clients, John being our very first, back in December 2002, and Norma joining him in November 2005. There isn’t much that stops them training, and over the years it’s really only injury that’s put training on hold, or the odd holiday or two. In fact I could count on one hand the number of sessions missed due to illness. Both in their late 60’s they would put some 30 year olds to shame, showing tremendous balance on the stability ball, great skill with the medicine ball, and coping with the various boxing combos. Of course Norma deserves an extra prize having put up with training with her husband all this time!
We’ve developed a great relationship over the years and I always look forward to our end of year Xmas breakfast to celebrate yet another solid year of training. I look forward to continuing this for many years to come. -Richard
Summer Super Trainer 2008
Our summer super trainer is Merilyn Pfahl. Merilyn has been undertaking personal training three times a week since the middle of last year, and in that time has improved all her fitness scores (some by 100%). Merilyn is ready to give anything a go, (but will let me know if she doesn't like something!) She is keen not to miss a personal training session, at times training four times a week to make up for sessions unavoidably missed. Health markers such as blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and blood sugar levels have all improved with Merilyn's personal training, and she reports feeling a lot fitter and healthier. She certainly looks great! Well done Merilyn, and keep up the good work.
Spring Super Trainer 2007
The Spring Super trainer is Karen. Our personal training session starts at 5:30am sharp because she has never been late (in fact she's usually early!). Her application to training is never say die (although the odd moan has been heard-just), and I just cannot find an abdominal exercise that will exhaust her before about 100 reps! Karen takes on extra curricular activities such as the City to Surf, Harbour Bridge Run, and community cycling events, and runs on the days we don't meet. To cap it all off, for the last 3 months she has continued with her personal training despite requiring an operation to correct a nerve opening in a neck vertebra that was causing constant pain, tingling and loss of strength right through her shoulder and arm. We had to modify training to exclude even the slightest pressure on her arm. Well done Karen, and we look forward to you recommencing your personal training sessions in the near future after your successful operation.
Winter Super Trainer 2007
Our Winter Super Trainer has been awarded to Gaby, who's personal training sessions with us started just under a year. When Gaby started she had been walking by herself for about six months, but did not feel she was getting the results she wanted, so she decided some personal training sessions with Hooked on Health would help her to achieve her fitness goals. Gradually we built Gabi's walks up to include some jogging, stair walking, and boxing, and her fitness levels have improved out of sight since last October. A recent personal training session involved a continuous run from Mosman Wharf to Cremorne Point and back. Gaby reports having more energy, feeling better within herself, and her weight continues to head in the right direction. What's more, she delights in telling me every time she "finds" a new muscle she hadn't seen before. All this has been achieved through a lot of hard work and determination. Like all of us, occasionally she can run a little off track, but she has always managed to pull herself back into line and refocus. Gaby is a much deserved winner of the Winter Super Trainer Award.
