Running Training Groups

Are you ready to get hooked?

Hooked on Running training groups are a great way to train for a specific running event, or just to keep fit and learn more about running, even if you never enter a fun run. But watch out! Once you are hooked you may find that running in a fun run is just the challenge you are looking for, and before you know it you'll be running in a marathon!

Each running training session runs for approximately 1 hour and is based on interval training at a medium to high intensity. There is no pressure to keep up with those running at a faster pace, however you will be encouraged to push yourself within your individual limits. Interval training is a very effective way to improve your fitness and increase your running speed, and it's great for weight loss. We undertake time trials at regular intervals so that you can gauge your progress. Whilst the bulk of the session is taken up with running, we will also be doing some running-appropriate strengthening work, and lots of stretching. This course is a great way to have some fun with running training, and meet some new friends and training partners!

"I am really enjoying the longer distances now that I have finally understood what it means to slow down to run further. Thank you thank you thank you for this new and wonderful insight. I love my running training and would love to work towards the half marathon. "

Sunday Runs
As well as your weekly interval training sessions, we schedule Sunday training runs so you can run with other group members over some great courses. Training runs are organised over a variety of distances with all runners startgin and finishing at the same point, whatever distance you choose to run. A great way to make those longer runs more interesting.

Required Fitness Level
To get the most out of the Hooked on Running training courses, it is expected that prior to commencement, you will be running for at least 25 minutes without stopping, a couple of times a week. If your fitness level is not quite up to this, then perhaps one of our Learn to Run courses is a better option.
